Battambang Cambodia Travel
Yes, Siem Reap does not beat Phnom Penh, Ratchasima, Kachin State or any other city in Cambodia for my favorite Cambodian cities. In fact, neither can get close, but they are easily my favorites for the entire Cambodian city.
In fact, one of the attractions of Battambang is that it is not a far-flung metropolis, offering travelers a very different Cambodian experience. It manages to avoid an overly touristy atmosphere and remains the perfect place to experience a more local side of life in Cambodia.
Battambang and Siem Reap are two of the most beautiful places in northwestern Cambodia, and both are worth a visit. If you want to drive from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, we recommend you to stay a few days in Battambangs. For a fun day trip to SiemReap, head to Koh Ker, which is 2.5 hours outside the city.
Battambang is a good next stop if you visit a place like Siem Reap near the border with Thailand. The Cambodian island of Koh Rong Samloem, which has some of the most beautiful beaches in Cambodia and a beautiful waterfall. The city on the Sangkae River was founded in the 11th century and is a unique place in the whole of Cambodia. Battambangs may not exist, but it bears many similarities to SiemReap, such as its proximity to the Mekong and its rich history.
Battambang has developed into a modern provincial capital and has become the most developed part of Cambodia province. It is a beautiful city, always populated by people from all walks of life, fishermen, farmers, fishing families and even tourists.
Battambang is Cambodia's second largest city and was recently on the map for travelers visiting the Angkor Khmer University and the recently improved infrastructure in the city, as well as the nearby city of Phnom Penh. Battambag has recently entered our map as a traveller on the road and has made it onto the first list of destinations to visit. Siem Reap is Cambodia's second most populous city and one of Southeast Asia's most popular tourist destinations. Siem is a major tourist and commercial hub, making it Cambodia's largest and most developed urban centre. Unfortunately it does not suit our way of travelling and of course we like to visit the other big cities in Southeast Asia, like Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam, but we have visited the small towns and villages of Sihanoukville, Kampuchea, Phuket, Kratie and Cambodia City.
Battambang, Cambodia's second largest city and one of Southeast Asia's most popular tourist destinations, has a reputation for being a great tourist destination with its ever-growing variety of attractions and unique culture. There are fewer visitors compared to Siem Reap, but the town has more than retained its Cambodian charm as a small town.
If you are not in the mood to go to Koh Rong, you can also book an overnight stay in one of the hotels in Battambang that interest you. You might also want to consider a tour of Cambodia instead of organising everything yourself. For those who visit us and have chosen to do so, we hope that our proposed route for Cambodia, which runs from Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Batt Ambang, will be of some help.
If you are only planning to spend a month in Cambodia and not in Angkor Wat, you would not stay so long in Siem Reap and decide to stay in Battambang for a longer period. The drive to Siem Reap takes 3 hours, so treat yourself to at least 3 days if you plan to, and give Phnom Penh 3-4 days as well. If you want to sit on the beach and relax, Batt Ambang is an obvious place to get away, especially in summer.
The best way to get to the city is by plane from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap and then by bus to get there. There are currently no intercontinental flights to Battambang, so few tourists are making the trip, making it a great opportunity to explore Cambodia at a more leisurely pace. Boat trip between Siem Reap and Batt Ambang is one of the most popular travel options in Cambodia, but it will also remain unforgettable. It will be the first time I'm on a boat, but it's definitely not the only option.
If you are looking for other places in Cambodia, read the Cambodia guide by GAdventures, a comprehensive guide to Cambodia's most popular tourist destinations. I was lucky because they did a great job showing me all the colours, history and culture of this beautiful country.
If you are on holiday in Siem Reap or Phnom Penh and want to learn about the local culture of Cambodia, why not visit Battambang for your upcoming holiday? Cambodia is so identified with Angkor Wat that those who have not visited it have a hard time finding another reason to come. Siem Reap is Cambodia's tourist attraction because it is home to one of the most famous temples in the world, the Royal Cambodian National Museum. It is the second most popular tourist destination in Cambodia and the third largest city in terms of population.
